오늘은 공동체 의식의 부재 문제를 작성해봤습니다.

 

<문제>

In many cities, an increasing number of people do not know their neighbors, and they lack a sense of community. What are the causes? How to solve this problem?

 

<답안>

Many city dwellers seem to have little interest in their neighbors, resulting in little sense of community. There are several causes of the problem, but there are also some solutions. One reason is their busy lifestyle. Another one is their modern accommodation. Enlarging public space and holding some regular meetings can be a solution.

 

One cause is their busy lifestyle. Many people in cities work hard to make a living. The living cost of metropolitan areas usually is so expensive, so the residents have to make more money for groceries, rent, and clothes. Too much work also makes people lack time and energy after work or on weekends. Many people may feel too busy and tired to know about their neighbors.

 

Another important cause is the type of accommodation. Many people live in apartments in cities, where it is uncommon to interact with the next doors. Apartments usually offer a separate and individualistic living space. There are only two or three households on one floor, making it even harder to get to know neighbors living on other floors. In addition, there are too many people living in one building, so it is almost impossible to know all the neighbors.

 

Nevertheless, there are several solutions to make the circumstance better. Governments can build more public spaces such as public parks, playgrounds, and community centers. Those facilities can help local people gather and talk to each other. If there are some local events or festivals around those areas, people will participate in them, which leads them to know each other. Additionally, people voluntarily arrange some regular meetings for the community. They can meet each other once a month, introduce some new neighbors, and confer over some problems in the area to find a solution.

 

In conclusion, the busy lifestyle and the individualistic apartments make it difficult for residents to know their neighbors and community, but building more public amenities around the residence and arranging regular meetings can solve the problem.
